This Privacy Policy explains how Data Chat ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you install and use our Chrome extension ("Extension"). By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Locally Stored Data

• CSV Files
  When you upload a CSV file, the full contents of that file are stored only in your browser's local storage (`chrome.storage.local`).
• User Prompts
  Any analysis question or prompt you enter is likewise stored only in local storage alongside the CSV data.

1.2 No Personal Identifiers

We do not collect or store any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, or location.

2. How We Use Your Information

All data remains on your device and is never sent to our servers or any backend. We use local storage solely to:

1. Enable Seamless Functionality
   • Cache your uploaded CSV so you can navigate, reload, or switch tabs without re-uploading.
   • Persist your analysis prompt so the results page can retrieve it automatically.
2. Support Export Features
   • Generate and download the AI-powered report as a PDF.
   • Allow you to copy report content to your clipboard.

3. Host Permissions & Network Requests

• Purpose
  • Send your stored CSV data and prompt to the OpenAI API for analysis.
  • Retrieve and render the AI-generated report in the results page.

4. Data Retention and Security

• Local Storage Only
  All data is encrypted and stored solely in your browser's local storage (`chrome.storage.local`).
• No Backend Storage
  We do not maintain any servers or databases that hold your data.
• Data Removal
  You can clear all stored data at any time by uninstalling the Extension or using your browser's "Clear Site Data" function for the extension's origin.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party service solely to power Extension functionality:

• OpenAI API
  Processes your CSV data and analysis prompt to generate reports. Governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

6. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. We will post the revised version here with a new "Last updated" date.
